Sephora savings event…the event of the year where you you can save up to 30% on products that will make you look prettier, make those fine lines disappear, reduce the size of those pores (God forbid) and give you the hair you always wanted. It is also the event that highlights my biggest weakness….I am a marketers dream customer! Lol.
The dilemma is every January I set out financial goals and, well, let’s be honest this shit is not cheap. This is a realization I have just come to today. If you want to remain ignorant to how much you might be spending on your beauty I would stop reading at this point!
Being the fiscally responsible person I portray myself to be, I went and looked at my financials to see how much I actually spend on my “beauty”. (P.S. – not necessarily something I recommend. You feel terrible when you get the answer you were searching for!)
So far in 2023, I spend on average $235 per month on beauty which is $8 per day or $2,800 per year. This is before hitting purchase on my current Sephora love list! (Lol!) In 2022, it was much higher:/
I instantly went to google to understand what is the “normal” amount people are spending on average on their beauty to get a better idea around how good or bad am I!
Women on average, are applying 16 skincare and cosmetic products a day! They are spending on average $8 a day on their face. “How much is your face worth? American women average at $8 per day”, Huffpost.
I must admit I was a bit relieved but at the same time….wow! Why are we so worried about the daily lattes and not talking about the face costs?!
The question I have been reflecting on is is it worth it? Do I see the results that I am either expecting to see or hoping to see? I am not sure. But it’s making me think about how can I maximize the return of my expenses on my face?
In 2022, I spent $2,500 on more intrusive procedures (micro-needling, little botox) for my face and I saw excellent results. If I just spent that amount on my face, I would be at $7 a day which is cheaper than my current expenses I am racking up. Can I resist the temptation with the Sephora Savings event and use my current thinking to choose a different path forward…..I will keep you posted. I have until the 24th to receive the savings on my current Sephora “love” list.
Let me know your thoughts! Can you relate or no? Are you team Sephora or Team more intrusive procedures?
Cheers everyone and hope you have a great week!
